Our Viking Day
On Monday we had a Viking Day in P6. We wore Viking clothes: Lucy wore fur jacket, black neck top, black leggings, a black belt and her Mum’s furry boots. Eva wore a fury light pink jacket and a grey dress that covered a white top with leopard print high heel boots. Mr. Irvine had Viking Runes on his head which said “Take me to Valhalla”
In the morning, we did lots of different Viking activities. We both liked playing the Viking game Trip Trap Troll and we also enjoyed weaving woolen bracelets. We messed ours up but we kept trying so Rita gave us ones that she had made.
Our class did a sword fighting competition, learning to defend, en guard, advance (move forward) and retreat (move back). Out of our class Lucy became the almighty captain.
After this, our class made vicious, deadly (paper) spears. Vikings would have used real spears (that weren’t paper) and they would have used them for battle.
Last, but not least, we did the class sword battles where P6I, P6W and P6S fought to see who be crowned Jarl of Hillsborough. My heart was pounding the whole time, it was either going to Valhalla or winning. I felt very nervous but deep down I didn’t want to go to Valhalla. When I got into the numbers he was calling out I calmed down. Amelia and Caleb were against me and we each had 3 lives. At the end the score was dead-dead-champion (0-0-2) I was the one with 2 lives left so that meant …….. I won!!! My class ran screaming onto the pitch but Mr. Irvine sent them back.
When we left the MUGA pitch everyone chanted “Lucy!” all the way to class. Lucy won a special bracelet that was red and yellow and now she is our Jarl!
We had a really fun Viking day!
