School Angels

We are pleased to announce that Downshire Primary School PTA has teamed up with a new charity called schoolangel.org.uk which will help our school to raise money, along with many other schools in the UK. We can then spend the money on helping your child get the most out of school.

School Angel works with lots of big shopping brands in the UK which have agreed to donate a portion of the profit they normally make on your shopping, if you use the School Angel website to visit their shop. You are guaranteed to only pay exactly the same price for whatever you buy, but our school will also receive a donation.

School Angel is really simple to use and our school has its own charity page already set up.

Once on the page all you need to do is click on the logo for the shop you would like to visit and School Angel will take you directly to the site (or app) of the shop you want. School Angel does not need you to ever create an account or login, there are no passwords to remember and they will never trouble you with any junk mail.

We are really excited that School Angel can help our school raise lots of money which we want to use for science equipment including microscopes, data loggers, safety goggles, a time lapse and motion camera and STEM kits - all to improve our pupils experience of science.

Adding a School Angel shortcut to your iPhone or iPad

You can add an app (really a shortcut) to your iPhone to take you directly to Downshire's page on School Angel, where you can click through to the website or app of your desired merchant (from Amazon to Wiggle). This not only secures commission on the sale for your school (at no cost to you) - it also means that you can hide away all your shopping apps in a subfolder on your phone and just use School Angel to navigate your shopping.

Here's how to do it:

1. Open Downshire's School Angel Page at https://www.schoolangel.org.uk/downshire-primary-school.html on your iPhone or iPad.

2. Click on the icon (on your iPhone, if you scroll up, it comes up at the bottom of your browser; on your iPad, it's at the top right).

3. Give the shortcut the name you want, such as "School Angel" and save it.

4. Position the shortcut wherever you want it on the screen of your iPhone or iPad.

School Angel not only pays commission on your purchases to Downshire, through the PTA, but it also has the convenience of providing you with the links to almost all your shopping sites/apps - all in one place! So it is really worthwhile to have a shortcut to School Angel in your browser. The best way to achieve this is as follows:

1. From your browser, right-click on this link, https://www.schoolangel.org.uk/downshire-primary-school.html and select "Open Link in New Tab"

2. Right click on the new tab that displays the School Angel page and select "Pin Tab".

School Angel will now be pinned on the tab bar at the top left of your browser for easy access in the future. Please do this as it will help you to remember to do your shopping through School Angel and make sure that your school does not miss out on the commission that could be so valuable to its fund-raising efforts.
